Modern farmhouse design, flipped!

We’ve worked on plenty of modern farmhouse siding renovations before, but we’ve never done one quite like this: all the features that make up a modern farmhouse exterior are here, just reversed!

The clients for this Edmonton area home fell in love with Gentek’s Iron Ore colour, and they decided to deck out the whole house. On the front and rear of the home, you’ll see vertical board & batten vinyl siding, broken at the horizontal seams by 5.5-inch HardieTrim, custom painted to match. On the side walls, we installed horizontal D4 bevel siding. In keeping with the modern farmhouse aesthetic, the clients opted for high-contrast soffit, fascia and eavestrough.

Another modern farmhouse staple is authentic wood accents. The clients very creatively built stained cedar supports for their front downspouts, and of course the beautiful pergola in the back yard is a stunning wood feature as well!

Before we started the project, this home was a perfect example of “beautiful on the inside, drab on the outside.” Now, the exterior matches the style and craftsmanship that you see as soon as you walk in the front door!
