James Hardie and Royal Siding Combination

What a transformation! We combined a number of products and installation methods to create a high performing and visually compelling exterior for this wonderful family.

The original aluminum siding was removed and replaced with Hardie Plank in Mountain Sage, and Hardie trim accents in Arctic White. The 7” reveal of Hardie Plank keeps some of the original aesthetic, but brings with it a gorgeous woodgrain and a wonderful deep shade of green. The Arctic White trims adds some visual flair to the exterior, and ties in nicely with the white windows and new soffit, fascia, and eavestrough we installed.

Where aluminum siding was removed, we installed 1” IKO EnerAir behind the siding - adding an approximate R6 thermal value to the walls. Because the original stucco exterior on the sides and back of the home were in good shape, the homeowner elected to keep the stucco and have us install over top! For more information on how we do this, check out our blog post here.

On the back of the home, we installed 3/4” treated plywood strapping through the stucco and into the studs. Hardie Plank and Trim were installed over top to match the front, but not before adding 3/4” IKO EnerAir to provide some additional insulation to the back too!

On the sides of the home, we were able to help the homeowner save on costs by installing a similar coloured vinyl siding over top of the stucco. We installed a levelwall insulation over the stucco before installing Royal Shamrock vinyl siding over top. The end result is a high end finish that comes in at a lower price point than Hardie, for a minimal difference visually.
