Modern Farmhouse Renovation

A modern update of a classic look

We absolutely love how this complete exterior renovation and addition turned out! The homeowner expanded their existing home, and took the opportunity to re-side their existing structure while adding the new Hardie board siding.

Vinyl siding was removed on the existing portion of the home and replaced with Arctic White Hardie siding. A variety of Hardie products were featured to help provide some extra “pop”. We tied in new soffit and fascia to match the existing home.

Hardie Panel was installed in a board and batten application on the front porch, and Staggered Hardie Shingle was used on the back of the house. We even added some Hardie Panel on the front columns. Sturdimount mounting blocks were used for the cleanest possible finish at all penetrations.

Hardie Roughsawn Trims were used to provide added depth. 5.5” trims were used instead of the standard 3.5” trims, adding extra weight to corners and windows. Roughsawn trim is by far the more popular Hardie trim texture in southern Alberta, while the northern half of the province prefers smooth trim. For clients who prefer the roughsawn look, all we have to do is have our suppliers pull material out of Calgary!
