Hardie Bungalow Renovation with Lux Panel Accent
This is a beautiful update of the original design - but that Lux Panel accent might just steal the show anyways!
Our clients wanted to update the exterior on their home while also keeping the charm of the original design, and we think they absolutely nailed it. The original siding had a unique split of vertical orientation and horizontal - and while the siding had run its course from a longevity standpoint, the look still worked. Rather than reinventing the wheel, they decided to keep with the look - installing a Hardie board & batten in Cobblestone to match the vertical design, and Hardie Plank in Iron Gray to match the horizontal siding.
Rather than having shutters be the accent for the siding, the homeowners selected a Lux Panel accent for the split between the two Hardie products. We installed a wood backing, and then installed Lux Panel custom bent around that backing for the separation band. This was done in the colour Copper Wave - a standout finish that looks gorgeous in photos and even better in person.
Iron Gray and Cobblestone pair nicely together, and allow the Copper Wave accent to do a lot of the talking. The way it ties in with their new front door is perfect - and the accent works beautifully with the existing brick chimney as well.
Along with the siding being swapped out - we updated the exterior envelope to today’s building code wherever possible. The original black paper was replaced with a new layer of Tyvek, and the windows and doors were sealed with a peel and stick membrane - offering moisture protection and an air tight seal. Perfect for keeping warm air in the house in the Winter, and cool air in in the Summer.
