Our Hardie-Vinyl Combo Renovations Offer Edmonton The Best Of Both Worlds

Fantastic Looks. Great Durability. AndAt A More Economical Cost

Most Edmonton homeowners love the look of James Hardie siding. The price, however, is a bit less popular. We get it: You’ve got a budget in mind and want to stick to it.

So, how do you get that great look without the cost? You get creative! Many clients choose to spend that little bit extra to upgrade their front walls to Hardie board and finish the less visible side and rear walls with vinyl.

Our vinyl siding products are also durable and made of high-quality materials. So, it makes sense to use vinyl siding for the majority of your renovation. And use the beauty of James Hardie planks, panels, or shakes to create stunning curb appeal.

The final look is always amazing and, more importantly, unique to you.

The Benefits Of Combining Hardie and Vinyl

Mixing quality vinyl siding with James Hardie fiber-cement siding gives you more options to find the perfect look for your Edmonton area home. But there’s more to it than just looks.

Even More Design Options

When you’re selling your home (or just showing it off), you want people to have that “WOW” first impression from the curb. Nothing will give them that feeling quite like a fresh siding renovation.

When you go with a Hardie-vinyl combo, you have endless opportunities to make your home stand out from the crowd.

From mixing siding styles to using complementing or contrasting colours, your home will reflect your personal taste and unique style.

Durability

Siding is designed to be the “sacrificial” outer layer of your home’s exterior, so it takes a beating all year long while protecting your home’s framing and waterproofing from the elements.  From extreme cold to scorching heat, plus high winds and hail from those crazy prairie storms, the elements in Edmonton are TOUGH.

At Blue Jay Exterior Renovations, we refuse to carry anything that can’t hold up to Alberta weather. While James Hardie siding has unequalled durability, our vinyl siding products have a track record of performance in our climate and are also designed to hold up for decades!

Better Heat Resistance

At the end of the day, vinyl siding is basically made from plastic. It’s thick, durable, and pretty plastic that will last for 30+ years, but it still behaves like plastic. And just like the peanut butter jar that you run through the dishwasher before you recycle it, vinyl siding will warp or melt if it’s exposed to very high temperatures.

That’s why many of our clients choose to strategically place a section of Hardie board where they know they’ll have some extra heat – like behind a barbecue, by the firepit, or even on a wall that’s a bit too close for comfort to the neighbour’s house.

An Exterior Design That Fits Your Budget

Most people are a little bit surprised at the price of a full Hardie siding replacement. It’s not that they can’t afford to do the project; it’s just that they were really hoping it would be a bit less expensive and fit better into their overall financial picture.

By combining Hardie board with vinyl siding, homeowners can get the distinctive James Hardie aesthetic where it counts at an overall price point that’s much closer to vinyl siding. So maybe you can still take that beach vacation this year after all!

Blue Jay Is Edmonton’s Best Choice To Install Your Hardie-Vinyl Combo

James Hardie, when installed alone, takes some serious expertise to get right. But when you’re combining it with vinyl siding, the potential for installation errors doubles!

Your contractor needs to be an expert with both materials or else one-half of your new exterior ends up looking amateurish.

At Blue Jay Exterior Renovations, we’ve got a proven track record with both vinyl siding AND Hardie board. Take a look at our portfolio to check out hundreds of successful projects with each of them! And our homeowner-focused approach ensures your complete satisfaction every step of the way.

Siding, Siding, And Siding

When we first opened our doors[A Face To Our Name], we kept things simple. We offered siding renovation and nothing else. But now… we’re still keeping things simple.

We know siding. We love siding. And we know the industry inside and out. Why would we want to do anything else?

Answer? We don’t.

Sticking to siding means we can pour all our energy into perfecting our methods and making sure that every customer enjoys a better renovation experience.

Why Only Siding?

First We Deliver – Then You Pay

Every “shady contractor” story starts the same way: a homeowner hands over cash before it’s been earned. Blue Jay’s “Proof Before Pay” process is designed to keep you completely in control.

We ask for three payments, one for each of the key points of your siding renovation.

39% - due once materials are delivered and work has begun

46% - due once the job is finished

15% - due once all deficiencies are completed and you’re 100% satisfied

While we certainly hope that you hire Blue Jay for your siding project, we understand that not everyone reading this will choose us. But no matter who you hire, make sure that you’re holding back at least 10% of the contract price until you agree that the contractor’s work is done.

Our Process

Our Values Shape Our Every Action

Every good intention will be eroded over time - unless you take action to protect your core values.

When we started Blue Jay Exterior Renovations, we put our professional goals down on paper. And then, we showed them to all the world to see who we are and what we expect from ourselves.

Namely, no games or gimmicks, no pushy consultations, no cutting corners, and no hidden fees..

Our Core Values

We Always Keep You Informed

Manufacturer delays, mixed-up shipments, and design issues can ruin your day when they come as a surprise at the eleventh hour. And if your contractor takes days to respond to even your simplest questions, how can you be confident that they’ll keep you in the loop as surprises come up during your renovation?

At Blue Jay, our commitment to constant communication means that you’re always involved in the process (as much as you want to be). Over the years, we’ve learned that honest communication can overcome just about any problem.

More On Communication

Obsessed With Details

When you’re combining James Hardie with vinyl, the little things will make or break your project. For the installers at Blue Jay Exterior Renovations, that’s just another Tuesday.

We know that the quality of your siding renovation depends on getting the details right, so that’s what we do. Our team could likely recite the install manuals for our products with their eyes closed, but we keep them wide open while working.

We look for small errors, defects, and any potential issues at every step of your project. Multiple sets of eyes do this, so nothing gets missed. And if something does happen to slip past, we’ll be sure to catch it at the deficiency walkthrough we schedule with every client on every project.

The Nitty Gritty
