Hardie Panel and Easy Trim Renovation

Contemporary exterior design

Some customers come to us without the first idea of how to transform the exterior of their home. Other customers have a specific vision in mind and we just have to execute it! This homeowner knew exactly how he wanted his new exterior to look, and we’re sure you’ll agree that he nailed it.

The design uses smooth Aged Pewter HardiePanel on the front and rear elevations with colour matched Easy Trim reveals and full headed screws. The panel layout the customer designed ensures that full sized panels were used wherever possible, which also minimizes the amount of trim needed and streamlines the look. Some contractors would save money by skipping the screws on the panels - this is a terrible idea! Because HardiePanels are quite flexible, wind pushing on them over the years will cause them to work free of the trim pockets.

Lux V-Groove steel siding in Tigerwood brings an authentic wood look accent on the edges of the front face, and new black fascia and roof cap flashing finish of the design with a bold touch.

About a year after we completed the job, the client reached out to us because he had a concern about water dripping out through the soffits we had installed. We took some of the soffit paneling out to investigate, and it turned out that there was a significant amount of frost in the attic. When the client’s contractor built the new addition, they didn’t realize that they had encompassed the main vent for the attic space of the original structure. We solved this problem by adding a bank of passive vents on the other side!

Who says you can’t have a contemporary design on an older home?
