Khaki Brown Hardie and Lux Panel Renovation
So many different elements to love on this one!
The original wood siding was worn and at the point of requiring frequent maintenance, as well as attracting the unwanted attention of some woodpeckers. After removing the original siding, we installed a 1” layer of Enerspan insulation and then installed the new siding, soffit, fascia, and eavestrough.
That 1” layer of exterior insulation resulted in a roughly 40-50% increase of R value on the exterior walls - a significant increase that helps keep things warmer in the winter and cooler in the Summer.
Hardie’s Khaki Brown was selected as the main colour for the project - and looks phenomenal in a variety of products and textures. On the sides and back you’ll find a horizontal Hardie Plank in an 8.25” Cedarmill, and the board and batten on front (and matching Hardie Trim) stays true to the design of the original siding, while adding some depth and bringing out the gorgeous existing stone work. The existing stone ties in nicely with Khaki Brown - selected specifically to bring out some of the colours.
And it’s hard to discuss this stunning exterior transformation any longer without mentioning that showstopping new garage door. We had absolutely nothing to do with that selection or installation (we don’t do overhead doors!), but it sure is beautiful! And we got the opportunity to tie in a beautiful Lux Panel siding accent with it.
You’ll find the Lux Panel (in the colour Suede) installed above the front balcony for another standout accent. We really like Lux Panel as a faux wood accent product for a number of reasons, but one of them is the design flexibility the product has. The front of the home features Hardie Board and Batten - a vertical accent. So we installed the V Groove Lux Panel accent in a horizontal application to contrast with that look - and the result is spectacular!
A matching Lux Panel feature in the front soffits ties it all together, and caps off a beautiful exterior renovation. One little extra highlight to notice as you walk up to the front steps.
