Mixed Product Beauty

Common feedback we receive from homeowners when we discuss design is a distaste for the trend on modern Edmonton infills to include what looks like a half dozen different products. At Blue Jay - we totally agree! It’s subjective of course - but too much variation on any one facade and eventually you don’t know where to look.

Conversely, when a homeowner is able to layer their desire for a mix of products, colours, and textures into one cohesive design - nothing looks better. And credit to these homeowners - they absolutely nailed it with their selections on this one. You’re never overwhelmed with the variety, and instead every time you see it you get to pick up another detail.

Looking at the before and after photos - the first thing that is going to stand out is the colour change. It’s a beautiful house and the original siding looked pretty sharp - but the new Wedgewood siding from Royal really forces you to notice how nice the exterior layout is. And the tie in with the white corners, white Hardie Trims around windows/doors, and the new white soffit/fascia/eavestrough is perfect. It brightens up the dark siding colour, and look how it makes some of the original white features on the home (like the overhead door trim and the windows) pop!

And then you look closer, and you’ll notice there’s even more layers to this beautiful design. Mitten’s Stratus siding was selected for a board & batten accent - a feature you’ll see at the front entrance, and a few other key accent areas on the home. It’s a perfect contrast, both in terms of texture and colour.
Along with the board & batten accent, you’ve now got a stunning Versetta Stone accent along the front walls of the house, and some beautiful bottoms of the existing posts. Sterling was a perfect colour selection for the Versetta - with it’s own colour variation complementing all of the accents.

Finally, you’ve got the LP Smart Panel columns replacing the original posts. The corner beads add some additional texture, and the panels were pre-painted white to tie in with the other white accents on the home.
