Contemporary design with long term durability
For this project in West Edmonton, our clients had two main goals:
Add some insulation to the exterior of their walls, and
Get rid of the faded pink aluminum siding!
The main sections of siding are James Hardie fiber cement lap siding in Arctic White. The clients also wanted an accent in the gables, so they went HardiePanel vertical siding in the peaks, with 1.5” wide Smart Trim batten strips.
Of course, the defining feature of this exterior is the wood grain siding. 4” Lux V-Groove panel in Classic Cherry covers the front door wall, and wraps up into the front soffits. Lux wood grain panels are a great way to bring the warmth of authentic wood siding without having to worry about maintenance. And because Lux panels are made from 24-gauge steel, they won’t be damaged as easily as some of the wood-look vinyl or aluminum products on the market.
To top it off, this gorgeous new exterior is installed on top of a layer of GPS rigid insulation. Highly breathable (5.2 perms) and with a stable R-value (4.7 per inch in any temperature), we believe GPS is the best rigid insulation product for the Alberta climate.
