Midnight Surf and Versetta Stone Renovation

This project in south Edmonton is a classic example of the type of project we work on every day. The clients absolutely hated the look of their original mustard yellow metal siding and painted cinderblock chimney chase, so they called us to start the process of selecting a new exterior design.

We replaced the original aluminum siding with Royal’s Midnight Surf in a traditional profile. White corner posts, new cladding at the overhead garage door, Arctic White Hardie Trim accents around the windows & doors all serve to brighten up the exterior siding. The stunning Plum Creek Versetta Stone accent at the front of the garage and below the front picture window bring a beautiful earth tone element to the front of the home as well.

One interesting item to point out is the chimney chase itself. You may have been wondering, how do you install vinyl siding on top of concrete blocks? How we did it here was to first attach 2x4 lumber to the outside of the concrete blocks using a 3/8” sleeve anchor. These anchors are extremely strong, and provide plenty of support for vinyl siding. From there, we installed the vinyl siding, corners, and accessory trims. We topped the chimney with a new custom steel chimney cap. The finished product is integrated perfectly into the rest of the exterior, and you’d never know that a bunch of concrete blocks were hiding under the siding!
