Vinyl Siding & Versetta Stone Renovation
This stunning acreage property now has a gorgeous home to match, with courtesy of some new vinyl siding from Royal and stone veneer accents from Boral Versetta Stone.
The homeowners had already changed the original roof to black shingles, and the soffit/fascia/eavestrough were done in black to match. So the stage was set to take this original exterior from its current state to a modern farmhouse stunner, and we were happy to be a part of the transformation!
Subtle details take this one to the next level. A traditional profile vinyl siding (Royal’s White, specifically) really pairs nicely with the modern farmhouse aesthetic, looking like an original wooden clapboard but offering the proven performance of vinyl siding. And the change from a horizontal siding to the the vertical board and batten on the dormers adds tons of charm and character to the front facade, without doing too much to draw your attention away from some of the other details on the home.
Where we added metal cladding (like on some entrance doors and the overhead door), we did it in black aluminum to match the existing soffit/fascia/eaves. It’s a small detail, but helps pull together the black and white contrast found on other areas of the home.
And of course the Versetta Stone along the base of the front of the home is a real showstopper. Made from concrete to deliver long term durability and the feel of natural stone, Versetta is our favourite pick for faux stone products. It simply looks stunning on the wall, and is built to withstand our harsh Alberta climate. Northern Ash was a natural selection for the colour, playing off the dark features of the roof and metals, and offering some balance to the design.
Along with the siding and stone, we replaced the existing weather barrier with a new layer of Tyvek, updated flashing to today’s building code, and a peel and stick membrane around doors and windows. This combines to keep moisture out, and provides an air tight seal - helping to keep warm air in in the Winter, and cold air in in the Summer.
